1. Metabolic pathway includes a series of chemical reaction occuring inside the cell. There are several major common characteristics which are found in all mejor matabolic pathways. They are as follows-
one example of metabolic pathway is Glycolysis, which is a catabolic process to convert glucose into pyruvate and produce ATP , which is used as a priamry energy source.Glycolysis is a 10 step process and each step is catalyzed by specific enzymes. Glycolysis occurs in cytoplasm.
2.a) In mitosis, the parent cell develops two genetically identical daughter cell. In comparison to mitosis, in meiosis germ cells get divides to generate four daughter cell which contain half the number of chromosme found to dauther cells are half of the parental cell. Mitosis is used for growth and replacement of old dying cells. Whereas, meiosis is takes place to reduce diploid cells to haploid cell.
b) In interphase part cells spend most of the time which is consist of three stages, G1, S and G2. During interphase cell grows, generates necessary proteins for cellular growth, duplicates the chromosome. DNA replication occurs in S phase, which is important as cells need to double its DNA content to divide between daughter cell, Interphase also contains cell cycle checkpoints like G2 checkpoint which regulate errors of DNA replication before cell division. If there are errors present which can not be repaired, the cells undergo apoptosis or cell death pathway. Thus interphase stage decides that cells ust have enough material and viable cell for cell division.
c) If an organism have 14 chromosome, and as the organism has diploid number of chromosome, thus in the organism 2n= 14
Gamets will have then haploid number of chromosome or n=7
thus gamets will have 7 chromosome .
