Explanation / Answer

(A) time taken to reach first,

in horizontal, d_x = (v0x) t

22 = (27 cos54) t

t = 1.386 sec

in vertical, yf - yi = v0y t + ay t^2 / 2

y - 4 = (27 sin54)(1.386) + (-9.8)(1.386^2)/2

y = 24.9 m

clearing distance = 24.9 - 16 = 8.9 m ........Ans

(B) at max height, vy = 0

vfy^2 - v0y^2 = 2 a (yf - yi)

0^2 - (27 sin54)^2 = 2(-9.8)(y - 4)

y = 28.3 m

clearing distance = y - 16 = 12.3 m

(C) in vertical, yf - yi = v0y t + ay t^2 /2

4 - 4 = (27 sin54)t + (-9.8 t^2 / 2)

t = 4.46 sec ,...... time taken to reach the net

in horizontal,

R = (v0x) t = (27 cos54)(4.46) = 70.7 m .....Ans
