Question
Homework 2 1. Object's position is given byx-bt where b is a constant. Find the expression for the instantaneous velocity and show that the average velocity over the interval from t-0 to any time t is ¼ of the instantaneous velocity at t. An explosive projectile at the altitude of 82 m blows up into two fragments, one going up with the velocity of 16.7 m/s and other-down at 7.68 m/s. Find the time interval between those two will hit the ground Problem 60 from chapter 2 Biker drives with a constant speed of 89.5km/h except for a 22 min stop. If his average speed is 77.8km/h, (a) How much is spent on the trip? (b) How far does the person travel? 2. 3. 4. 5. A ball is thrown upward from the ground with an initial speed of 25 m/s; at the same instant, another ball is dropped from a building 15m high. After how long the balls will meet each other in the air? 6. You are a tourist in Italy. One of the great attractions there is a Leaning Tower of Pisa that's exactly 156 meters high (ignore the angle it makes with the ground). You drop a coin from the top of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The coin falls freely from the rest down to the ground. Since you're taking a physics course, you now can actually model its free fall! So let's find its velocity and position at 1.0s, 3.0s and 6.0s after you released the coin. Choose the y axis pointing upward; imagine yourself in Italy and good luck with calculationsExplanation / Answer
1)Given,
x = bt^4
instantaneous velocity is:
Vi = x/t = bt^4/t = b t^3
Hence, Vi = b t^3
We know from the defination of avg velocity
Vav = dx/dt = d(b t^4)/dt
So, the average velocity is:
v = 4 b t^3
Vi/Vav = b t^3/4 bt^3 = 1/4
Hence, Vi/Vav = 1/4
