Question

Suppose the three particles in the figure have the same mass and speed.Rank the particles in order of decreasing magnitude of their charge.
Additional info. the three particles are a b and c, each are rays. they are set up on a grid of circles the magnetic field is directed to the right (like so... -->)
ray A begins at the left of the screen and has a steep incline.
ray B begins at the same place but doesn't have as steep of an incline
ray C begins the same place but goes right and then declines

Explanation / Answer

expression for the radius of the circle:

R=mv/qBsin.

This shows that if the speed and mass don’t change, the larger q will produce the smaller R because q is in the denominator. Smaller R means a “sharper” curve - like particle A. Look carefully at the curvature of the circles and be sure to pick the sharpest to go with the largest charge.

from what you've written:

charge of A > charge of B > charge of C
