Question
Can't figure out these two parts if anyone could help! A traveling wave propagating on a string is described by the following equation: y(x,t) = (4.75 mm) [sin((141.33 m-1)x - (318.39 s-1)t + 0.7875)] Determine the minimum separation, ?xmin, between two points on the string that oscillate in perfect opposition of phases (move in opposite directions at all times). At what point along its trajectory should a linear driver connected to one end of the string at x = 0 start its oscillation to generate this sinusoidal traveling wave on the string?Explanation / Answer
A wave equation of form : x = A sin (kx - t + )
The minimum separation asked is actually half the wavelength...i.e /2
Now, = 2/K
So, X min = 2/2k =/141.33 =0.022 m
Second part :
x = /K =0.7854/141.33 =0.0056 m
