K = Lysine
R = Arginine
Both these amino acids are synonymous.
D = Aspartic acid
E = Glutamic acid.
Both these amino acids are also synonymous.
It is interesting to note that synonymous mutations showed a different phenotype compared to non-synonymous mutations. Q and M or Q and N are completely different amino acids.
