Statements first and third are correct. Cholesterol is the key component of cell membrane which provide fluidity to the membrane. Cholesterol is also a component of bile. Bile is composed of bile salts, bile pigments and fatty acids (cholesterol, lecithin etc). Our body (specifically liver)  makes all the cholesterol we need.
