To the best of my knowledge, hydrocarbons are hydrophobic.(Hydro- water; phobic-afraid: so they dislike water) Hydrophillic would classify it as water-loving, i.e.likely easily soluble in water and polar. The fact that hydrocarbons are hydrophobic should meanthat they are non-polar. If you look at a picture of hydrocarbon,you can more easily physically perceive this. So, b) the majority of their bonds arenon-polar covalent carbon-to-hydrogen linkages
