a) Nanaerobes : Nanaerobes are the organisms that do not require oxygen for their growth. They require the nanomolar concentrations of oxygen to grow with and derive benefits.

Example : Bacteriodes fragilis

b) Microaerophile : The organisms that require oxygen levels in the atmosphere for their survival but in very low levels .

Example : campylobacter

c) Facultative anaerobe : These are the organisms that produce ATP in the presence of oxygen , but are capable of surviving in absence of oxygen too , by switching to fermentation.

Example : Staphylococci
