Question
This is very easy, but im not the best at physics. Imagine a Block of mass M on an inclined surface with angle theta w.r.t horizontal. The surface is friction-less.As the block is sliding down, write an expression for the magnitude of the net force on the block in terms of the known quantities. (Hint: think about the forces acting parallel and perpendicular to the the incline.) Also, what is the direction of the net force?
All i really know is that there is a normal force, force of gravity, and acceleration.
Also, at the block travels down the incline, it the net force constant, increasing, or decreasing? I said it was constant because acceleration is constant and we are ignoring friction.
I appreciate your help
Explanation / Answer
Required equation of motion
parallel to inclined plane
F = Mgsin, down the plane
and perpendicular to inclined plane
N = Mgcos, perpedicular to the inclined surface.
Net force will remain constant on the block
