Question
A grinding wheel is in the form of a uniform solid disk of radius 7.00cm and mass 2.00 kg. It starts from rest and accelerates uniformly under the action of the constant torque of 0.600 N * m that the motor exerts on the wheel.a) How long does the wheel take to reach its final operating speed of 1,200 rev/min?
b) Through how many revolutions does it turn while accelerating?
I have the answer to a which is 1.03 secs but I'm stuck on part b. I looked at the solution in the cramster's textbook help section but there is a part in the solution I am confused about. They solved for the final angle position and then multiplied that number by (1rev/6.283rad). Where did the (1rev/6.283rad) come from and what exactly is that number suppose to be?
Explanation / Answer
1 rev has angle in rad units
2 = 6.283 rad
