KNOX1 STM gene shootmeristemless are involved in leaf shape control during angiosperm evolution. It acts antagonistically with the ARP gene to control induction of leaf primodia. Loss of funtion of stm in a mutuant prevents leaf formation.

Stomata are epidermal pores used for exchange of water ,oxygen and carbon dioxide,stomata is arranged with guard cells and this is called as the stomatal complex.They are regulated by a large number of genetic components such as secreted peptide ligandds,plasma membrane recpetors and receptrs like kinases,MAP kinase module and transcription factors.

Auxins are one of the first hormones to be intenfied in plants it is called indole 3 acetic acid, it is present in plants in different proportions. It is transported by a transport system called polar auxin transport.
