Question

Question 1 Calculate the magritude of the magnetic ficld at point D in the ngure. The current in the wires as y, 1.00 cm and y.1.00 is 130 A. 0 0.000520 T e o.icos68T 0 0.000184 T Question 2 Magnerk resonance mac ng needsa magneticfield srenhof approximately 2 24 T. They use a solenoid that is tghtly wound. e 3.57x105A o 1.21 105A e 8.91 103 has a length of 2.00 m. and diameter 6B.0 am. The wire that makes up the so enoid has a dameter of 5.00 mm. To get the necessary magnetic field what current s required? 143 109A Question 3 An ectron travels through a magnetic teld with a wength or 4.20 T and is traveling aa speed af2.12x107 m/s. what the force on the Qlearon as shown in the nguru? 1.42x10-110-1) N 1.4210-N 1.01x10-116-t) N

Explanation / Answer

Question 1 - The diagram is not clear. Can't see which wire has current into the page or out of the page.

However, if the currents are in opposite direction, the magnetic field at point b is

B = u0 / 2*pi ( I1 / r1 + I2 / r2)

note that here I1 = I2 = 13 amps , distance between wires = 2 cm, so r1 = r2 = 0.01 , uo = 4*pi*10-7

Question 2 - The magnetic field of a solenoid is given by B = uoNI / L... solve this equation for I , we get

I = BL / uoN

where N = 2 / 5E-3 = 400

SO, I = 2.24*2 / 4PI*10-7 * 400

I = 8912.6 AMPS or 8.912e3 amps ...........Option 3 seems correct.

Question 3

F = qvB

F = 1.6e-19*2.12e7*4.20

F = 1.425e-11

The diagram is not clear so it is difficult to determine direction. However, you can do so easily using right hand rule
