Question
Problem 1. A steady current flows through a straight conductor. The conductor is moving away from the station- ary loop. Use Lenz's law to determine the direction of the induced emf in the loop. The switch is opened after having been closed for a long time. Use Lenz's law to determine the direction of the induced emf in the inner loop immediately after the switch is opened. The bar magnet is moving away from the coil as shown. Use Lenz's law to determine the direction of the induced current in the resistor (left-to-right or right-to-left) (iv) Use Lenz's law to determine the direction of the induced current in the resistor (front-to-back or back- to-front) as soon as the switch is closed.Explanation / Answer
1. The flux through the loop is into the page which is decreasing, so, in order to increase this flux, there is a clockwise current induced in the loop.
2. Here also ,the flux through the loop is into the page which is decreasing, so, in order to increase this flux ,there is a clockwise current induced in the loop.
3. The flux through the loops is rightward which is decreasing. So, to increase this flux voltage is induced and the current is right to left in the resistor.
4. Here a magnetic flux rightward to leftward is produced and the voltage is induced which flows a current back to front in the resistor.
