(Select all that apply real o virtual O upright inverted (c) Locate the image when the object distance is 10.0 cm. (Indicate the side of the mirror with the sign of your answer.) cm Describe the properties of the image when the object distance is 10.0 cm. (Select all that apply.) real m virtual O upright invertedExplanation / Answer
(a) radius of curvature = 2*focal length
= 2*70.5 = 141 cm
(b) Object distance (do) = -100 cm
focal length (f) = -70.5 cm
by mirror formula
(1/d0)+ (1/di) = 1/f
-(1/100)+(1/di) = -(1/70.5)
di = -238.983 cm
-ve sign indicate that it will be on the left side of the mirror or on the same side of that object.
Image will be real and inverted.
(c) When object distance is (do) = -10 cm
1/d0)+ (1/di) = 1/f
-(1/10)+(1/di) = -(1/70.5)
di = 11.653 cm
+ve sign indicate that the image will be on right hand side of the mirror or
opposite side than that of object.
Hence the image will be virtual and Upright.
