Answers are 10 -A and 11- E. I just don't know why.

The following information applies to the next two questions (questions 10 and11). In the circuit shown to the right, the capacitor has an initial charge of 36.0 ?C . The switch is closed at tirne t 0 s. 2.00 uF 10. What is the current through the resistors 10.0 us after the switch 6.00 ? is closed? 4.00 s2 (A) 1.09 A (B) 1.38 A (C) .77 A (D) 2.03 A (E) 2.33 A 11. As the capacitor discharges, what is the ratio of the power dissipated in the 4.00 ? resistor to the power dissipated in the 6.00 ? resistor? (A) 0.0833 (B) 0.167 (C) 0.333 (D) 0.500 (E) 0.667

Explanation / Answer

10. Q = Q0 [ e^(-t/T)]

time constant, T = R C = (4 + 6)(2 uF) = 20 us

Q = (36 uC)[e^(-10/20)] = 21.84 uC

Vc = Q / C = 10.92 Volt

I = Vc/ (6 + 4) = 1.09 A

Ans(A)

11. P in resistor is propotional to R.

so P_4 ohm / P_6ohm = 4/6 = 0.667

Ans(E)
