Assume the stopwatch accu- racy is ±0.1s and the bucket volume accuracy is ±1.5%. If repeated experiments result in a standard deviation of 2 seconds, combine the with the bias uncertainty for a total uncertainty in flow rate measure- ment

Given that,

    Q = Volume / time

      Volume = 8 gallons      time = 30 sec = 0.5 min

       Q = 8 / 0.5 = 16 gpm.

Now, Calculate the Q for the accuracy of the volume and time

      If the accuracy of stopwatch is added, then t = 30.1 s and 29.9 s

     Volume will be , V = 8.12 gallons and 7.88

Now find ,Q for these both cases,

    Q for first case, i.e; V = 8.12 & t = 30.1s = 0.501 min

         Q = 8.12 / 0.501

             = 16.2 gpm

And for the second case, i.e; V = 7.88 gallons    and    t = 29.9 s = 0.498 min

   Q = 7.88 / 0.498

     = 15.82 gpm
