5) Idling:Zeners are abnormal ,since the zener intentionally reverse biased till the zener break down which is the voltage where regulates .let voltage drop =20v ifit is regulated upto 20v and also to a certain current, it is general operation. And suppose with a power of 25 watts ,it might be a quite high current than the normal current in amp.simply idea to maintain in mind while choosing and applying the zener diode.
