Question

Theory X and Y are about the human management. Douglas McGregor created these theories. Managers of different management use this theories to motivate in workplace.

Workers in a management work under two different managerial styles,Theory X and Theory Y. Under theory X workers are under very difficulty situation as they work under very strong supervision and work with no job satisfaction whereas in theory Y the workers are free to work with good encouragement and with job satisfaction.

Theory X :

In this management style the workers work with no interest and he has to be ready to to work any job assigned by the management. The workers work on their own responsibility with no help from others and they have to finish their goal by themselves.

In this management the managers think that they are the leader and the workers are working under him and they have to work as the manager says. Here the managers think that the workers are less talented than him.

According to Mc Gregor there are two ways to approach the theory X. They are hard and soft approach. In hard approach the workers work under very strong supervision and they are also punished. Here there is no cooperation between the workers and the management. In soft approach it is just the opposite of hard approach. The workers are working free with no restrictions and there is good cooperation between the workers and the management.

Under theory X,the worker work very hard and they produce more quantity with good quality products which in turn they earn more profits.

Theory Y :

In this theory the workers are given more preference in the company and the management believe in workers. Here workers take their responsibility and work with no supervision which in turn they bring out good quality products.

In Theory Y the workers are feeling happy to work and keep their workplace happy . They work freely with no tension and there is full freedom for them to work with their managers.

Comparing these two theories ,Theory Y will be preferred because the managers and workers work with good cooperation and both are happy working which makes the workplace more understandable. The managers believe the workers and the workers believe the managers.

In this the workers divide their project between themselves and bring out good quality work in them and make their work done on time.
