Question
Digital electronics are powered by DC power supply sources. The signal of a power supply is not perfect due of the presence of noise. Switching noise is the most common form of power supply noise. In this project, a digital system is modeled to represent the changing current as the system switches.
The portion of the digital system model that switches consists of three resistors (R2, R3, and R4), an npn transistor (Q1) and a function generator (Vf). Q1 operates as a switch. When Vf = 5 V the transistor is on acting as a short circuit. R2 and R3 are then in parallel. This parallel arrangement draws current from the line. When Vf = 0 V the transistor is off acting as an open circuit. In this case only R2 draws current from the line. The transistor is switched at a frequency of 2 kHz.
The rest of the system, modeled as an RLC circuit, represents the line that supplies voltage (Vcc) from the power source (Vs) to the digital system model.
1) Analyze the circuit by hand first to determine Vcc when R3 is switched on and off. Determine how the power line to the digital system causes the noise when the switching occurs. add component is a 10 nF capacitor. Explain whats happining ?
Explanation / Answer
Radiated noise is a form of electromagnetic interference transmitted through the air by cables and components wiyh ac voltages or currents.the radiated coupling can be very local, for example a transformer and a nearby wire or pcb trace and become conducted noise.any voltage across an airgap can cause radio noise even groundwires, neutalwires and wires not directly connected to a power line
