The child has burry diffuse vision with scattered bright lights and a severe headache. The CAT scan reveals an epidural hematoma. Over a few hours the child becomes nauseous and begins to vomit and his heart rate and breathing both increase. His blood pressure stats to fall. Where in the cranium is the hematoma? What causes the symptoms that develop in a few hours?

Ans. As the CAT scan revelas it being a case of epidural hematoma, the location would be the tough outer membrane covering the brain and skull.In epidural hematoma the accumulation of blood in the potential space between dura and bone takes place.

The epidural hematoma puts pressure on the brain leading to shifting of your brain within the skull due to swelling. Due to the damage to the inner tissue linings and the pressure exerted the aforesaid symptoms are observed.
