Explanation / Answer

By equating the pressures at datum line..... We get

Poil + Pmercury( for 0.3m) = Pccl4 + pressure in pipe on right side of datum

= Pa + (9000×1.1) + ( 132800×0.3) = Pb + (15600×0.8)

Pa - Pb = 37260 N/m² = 37.26 Kpa
