1.when any part of a machine needed to be change,then a similar part with same specification taken and replace it then method is called interchangeability.we can seen in our daily life,when a part from bike spoiled replace it another identical part.It is very much needed because we cannot manufacture whole bike to get bike part.so,according to specification of product number of indentical parts can made.so,interchangeability is needed for every product (as it depends on product).

It is a maintainability design factor,is quite closely related to standardization and is realized through standardization.
lets us consider a gear in a machine,when the gear tooth is damaged,the another gear with same measurements,standard of another gear is placed.It maintains standards of all machine parts and gives perfect fitting.

interchangeability course is done after machining course because without a design,structure,dimensions,tolerance of any part cannot be interchanged without macining courses.
