Question
Heat is added to an object initially at 30 degrees celcius, increasing its temperature to 80 degrees celcius.
A. what is the temperature change in Farenhiet?
I did (9/5)(80-30)+32 = 122 degrees F, but the book says 90 degrees so I'm confused.
B. What is the temperature change in kelvins?
I did 273.15+(80-30) = 323.15 kelvin the book has 50 for the naswer, again confused.
C. Is there any difference in the numerical value of a heat capacity expressed in cal/g*C degrees from one expressed in cal/g*K? Explain.
Explanation / Answer
A)delT in C= 50
(del T)/9|F=(del T)/5|C
(del T)|F=9*50/5 =90
B)(del T)|F=(del T)|C=50
C)no beacause here C---> temperature difference which is same in both cases
