C elegans hermaphrodites both male and female sex is present, it’s a best example for developmental studies. Both self and non cross fertilization is occurs in c.elegans. During the fertilization sperm fuse with egg to form a zygote. This zygote undergoes to series of highly regulative cell divisions. Only maternal genetic effects regulate the asymmetric division of egg.
