Question
Hello,
I need a fairly detailed explanation of how to do this problem. If you show me just the math then I won't award any points. I need an explanation of any step involving some physics concept (ie. tension= this because of some physics law). Since I need the problem well worked out and explanation of the physics steps, I am offering 750 points.
Problem:
A block with mass m= 5.00kg slides down a surface inclined 36.9 derees to the horizontal. The coefficient of kinetic friction is 0.25. A string attached to the block is wrapped around a fly-wheel on a fixed axis at O. The flywheel has mass 25.0kg and moment of inertia 0.500 kg m^2 with respect to the axis of rotation. The string pulls without slipping at a perpendicualr distance of 0.200m from that axis.
a) What is the acceleration of the block down the plane?
b) What is the tension in the string?
