Pretty easy question for some. Answer below I'm just confused on how since there's 15% adenine there must be 25% gaunines. Can someone explain that to me? Thanks
14) A single stranded DNA contains 15% Adenine, as many Guanines as Cytos ines, and 40% of purines. What is the amount (in percent) of Thymine A)25% B) 15% C) 35% D)40% E) Not enough information available There are 40% of purines and 15% Adenine, therefore there are 25% of Guanine. Since there are as many Guanine as Cytosine, there are 25% Cytosine. Finally, there are 35% of Thymine.Explanation / Answer
Purines consist of the nitrogenous bases adenine and guanine. Since there are 40% purines in the single stranded DNA and 15% adenine, there is 25% guanine.
Guanine= purines - adenine
40%purines -15% adenine= 25% guanine
