Question

In all parts: assume the the speed of sound in air is 341 m/s.
NOTE: The speed of sound changes with air temperature.

I solved the question but i just want to know if it is correct:

a) Suppose a ship's foghorn is sounded toward an iceberg, and an echo is heard 4.41 s later. The distance from the ship to the iceberg is:
m

-> i got 752 by multiplying (341)(4.41s) =1503.81

                                   1503.81/2 since its an echo= 752 rounded to three sig figs
b) Suppose the lab floor is 3.21 m beneath the motion detector. If the detector produces a click, how long would it take before the echo returned?
s

->i used the same method above: (341)(t)=6.42. solve for t. t=.019

Explanation / Answer

correct
