Question

Find the currents through and the potential difference across each resistor in the circuit shown on the diagram (Figure 1) . Use the following values: EMF = 12.0V , R1 = 15.0, R2 = 45.0, R3 = 20.0, and R4 = 25.0.

Find the following currents.

Find the following potential differences.

I cannot, for the life of me, figure this out.

Find the currents through and the potential difference across each resistor in the circuit shown on the diagram (Figure 1) . Use the following values: EMF = 12.0V , R1 = 15.0, R2 = 45.0, R3 = 20.0, and R4 = 25.0.

Explanation / Answer

Req = R1 + R2||R3+R4

since all the vlaues are given hence

R3 +R4 = 20 +25 = 45

R2/R4 = 45*45/90 = 22.5

Req = 15 + 22.5

=37.5 ohm

hence current = 12/37.5 = 0.32 ampere

now current through I1 = 45/90 * 0.32 = 0.16 ampere

hence current

I1= .16 A

I2= I3 = I4 = .32 A

now coming to voltage we ve

as we know that

V = IR

hence V1 = 4.8v

V2 = 7.2 A

V3 = 3.2A

V4 = 4V
