a) So initially the particle has energy = 1/2 mv^2+ mgh
= 0.5 *60*124^2+60*9.81*114
=528312 J
b) the energy at maximum height = 1/2 mv^2+ mgh
= 0.5 *60*87.9^2+60*9.81*274
=393068.7 J
the work done by air resistance is the change in energy= 528312-393068.7 = 135243.3 J
c) So air resistance will do another 1.5*-135243.3 =-202864.95 J of work
so total energy=393068.7-202864.25 = 190203.75 J
so 1/2 mv^2 + mg (0)=190203.75
so v= sqrt(2*190203.75/60)=79.62 m/s
