Question

Calculate the currents (magnitude only) in each resistor of Fig. 19-49 if R1 = 13 and R2 = 8.

I through R1 1 A                             I through 8 resistor                             2 A                             I through 6 resistor                             3 A                             I through 2 resistor                             4 A                             I through R2 5 A                             Calculate the currents (magnitude only) in each resistor of Fig. 19-49 if R1 = 13 and R2 = 8.

Explanation / Answer

there are 2 loops one with 6 v battery an other with 3 volt.
suppose cuurent in loop 1 is i1 and current in loop 2 is i2
then ,
loop1 .
6 = (13 + 8 + 6)i1 - 6i2
27i1 - 6i2 = 6
loop 2:
3 = (2 +6 +8)i2 - 6i1
- 6i1 + 16i2 = 3
solving these 2 equation we get
i1 = 19/66   = 0.288 A
i2 = 13/44 = 0.295 A
i(r1) = 0.288 A
i(8) = 0.288A
i(6) = 0.288 - 0.295 = 0.007 A
i(2) = 0.295 A
i(R3) = 0.295 A
