Question

Water is a way that minerals and nutrients can be transported to all the cells in our body. Water is comprised of 50% to 70% of the human body, and since water is so vital, we can only go a few days without it. After given a background on how water affects our body, my question has to deal with how people now a day are trying to get rid of water weight. Over the past couple of years, saunas have become a popular way for people to lose water weight that people have turned to. With that said, since saunas make you sweat profusely, causing you to lose a pint of water per sauna session, are they bad for your health? What are some negative affects saunas have on your body, in terms of water, when you use a sauna regularly or for too long, if there are any? Does losing so much water weight affect nutrient transport? What happens if you don’t replenish the water removed from your body after a sauna session? In your opinion, do you think it is beneficial to the human body to lose so much water by using a sauna in such a short amount of time?

Explanation / Answer

Yes they are bad for your health.

Yes there are negative effects on your body. For too long it will cause loss of electrolyte. The dehydration will lead to lead stroke.

Since nutrients are transported in our body through water and in sauna there is loss of water so it effects nutrient transport.

If you don't replenish the water removed from your body, body will fall short of electrolytes such as magnesium, potassium, sodium and calcium which will affect muscle and nerve activity.

after sauna we lose great amount of water but it also helps in flushing toxins and heavy metals such as Mercury lead from our body and after finishing the sauna session drink lot of water and restore the electrolyte and water balance.
