(c) Does the electric potential energy of an electron increase, decrease, or stay constant while it moves between the plates? Explain.

(a) Since the force on electron beam is vertically downward, the electric field should be directed vertically upward.

(b) ma = e(delta V)/d

v = u + at

u = 0

t = v/a = vmd/e(delta V)

(c) Decreases because it is converted into kinetic energy.
