Question

My question is, how are they getting the number 2.5 x 10-3? can you please show me work for this?

ABC is a straight line with AB=BC=0.6nm. BP is perpendicular to ABC and BP is .8nm. Charges of 3.2 x 10-19 are places at A and C, and a change of -3.2 x 10-19 is placed at B. What is the electric potential at P?

The answer I found is this:
E = kq1/r1^2 + kq2/r2^2
E = (8.99 x 10^9)(5 x 10^-9)/(2.5 x10^-3)(cos -40 degrees + sin -40 degrees) + (8.99 x10^9)(-5 x 10^-9)/(2.5 x 10^-3)(cos 217 degrees + sin 217 degrees)
E = 2(8.99x10^9)(5x10^-9)/(2.5 x 10^-3)(. [8)] = 28768 N/C

Explanation / Answer

are you looking at the right solution or some part of the question is missing? because the charge in question is 3.2 * 10^-9 while the charge in the answer is 5*10^-9
