Question

With the following problem I have to create a position vs. time, velocity, and acceleration graphs. How would I find position, velocity, and acceleration at time 1 sec., 2 sec.. so:
A speed boat traveling at a constant velocity of 20m/s passes a police boat at rest. The police boat starts 8 seconds after the speedboat passes at 2.3 m/s^2 for 10 sec. When and where does the cop catch the speedboat?
Please let me know what formulas to use and how to find the points to create the graphs. My prof. does not teach we have to think outside the box.

Explanation / Answer

160 + 20t = 0.5 * 2.3 * (t^2) solving we get t = 23.3sec after police travelling a distance of 624.32 m
