What are the advantages of using a key when identifying organisms? What characteristics are most useful when constructing and using a key? Do you think there may be some closely related species of organisms that cannot be identified with a key? Explain Why do you think keys always present two, rather than some other number of choices at each step? What are the advantages of using a key when identifying organisms? 1.The advantages of using a key when identifying an organism are:
2.The characteristics that are most useful when constructing and using a key would be including morphological characteristics or observable characteristics, including one major characteristic , use of single characteristic each time, avoiding the repetition of the same characteristics, use of contrasting characteristic at each stage and looking for characteristics that are similar and different between organisms.
3.Yes, there might be some closely related species of organisms that cannot be identified with a key. This is because there might be some that might look alike to each other exactly but possess a minor and single difference which cannot be included into the key.It might also happen that there might be molecular facts that could divide them but again that could not be confirmed just merely by looking at it.
4.Keys are always present two so that there would be no confusion and this would provide a simpler and a more efficient way in which organisms could be separated.
