Question

An ac generator with a frequency of 30.0 Hz and an rms voltage of 16.0 V is connected to a 32.0 uF capacitor.
A) What is the maximum current in this circuit?
I got this one using
Xc=1/(2pi*30*32*10^-6)
Xc=165.79
I0=V/Xc*sqrt(2)
I0=16/165.79*sqrt(2)
I0=0.136A

B) What is the current in the circuit when the voltage across the capacitor is 6.15 and increasing? (answer in Amps)
For this one I did:
I=V/Xc
I=6.15/165.79
I=0.037 A
But this answer is wrong. I think it supposed to be more similar to the I0 answer (closer to 0.136A). Do I use the I0 to find this answer? How do I factor in the fact that the voltage is increasing?

C) What is the current in the circuit when the voltage across the capacitor is 6.15 and decreasing
I think this answer will be the same as B but negative.

Explanation / Answer

16 is rms voltage no need of multiplying sqrt(2) again I0=V/Xc = 0.0965
