Question
A 2360 kg car accelerates uniformly from rest to 5.39 m/s in 2.43 s. The work done on the car in this time is... a = v/t = 2.218 m/s2 s = v2/2a = 6.55 m f = ma work = fd = mas = 34.285 KJ....34285 J....this part is correct. Find the average power delivered by the engine in the first 1.6524 s. Answer in units of W So, I worked this our as P = f*v and got 19.1845 kw...that is incorrect. I know the equations we are supposed to use are.... We know P = f*v instantaneous time avg v = v/2 take final velocity/time * force = WExplanation / Answer
power is work done by time so W = f*s/t but fortunately dis/time is velocity thats how you get the fv formula .so since you have calculated the velocity of 2.43 secs(not 1.6524secs) this formula fails.. see distance in 1.6524secs and calculate power delivered as fs/t.
