Question
An electronic point source emits sound isotropically at a frequency of 3000.0 Hz and a power of 28.0 watts. A small microphone has an area of 0.79 cm2 and is located 204.0 meters from the point source. 1) What is the sound intensity at the microphone ? I = W/m2 2) What is the power intercepted by the microphone? Pin = W 3) How many minutes will it take for the microphone to recieve 0.1 Joules from this sound? ?T = min 4) What is the sound intensity level at the microphone from this point source? ? =Explanation / Answer
I only know how to get answers dand e. For d): Use B= 10dB * log (I/I initial) so, 10dB * log ( the answer in part a of the question/ 10^ -12 For e): Whenever you double the power output, you increase the sound intensity level by 3 dB. So just add 3dB to the answer that you got in part d. Hope this helps
