Question
A soccer player kicks a ball that is on the ground down the field. The balls initial velocity is 10 m/s, 30 degrees above the horizontal. A.) What is the magnitude of the balls horizontal velocity at the maximum height of the balls trajectory? B.) How long does is take for the ball to land down the field? C.) What is the horizontal displacement of the ball just before it lands down the field? D.) What is the balls velocity just before it lands down the field? I am practicing problems for an exam, I need to see all work involved to get to the answer so that I can practice doing it this way.Explanation / Answer
Vx = 10 cos 30 = 8.66 m/s
Vy = 10 sin 30 = 5 m/s
A) Horizontal vel will remain constant = 8.66 m/s
B)T = 2 * Vy / g = 2 * 5 / 9.81 = 1.019 s
C) S = Vx * T = 8.66 * 1.019 = 8.8277 m
D) Projectile motion is symmetric...so the veloci with which it lands down is same as initial velocity
V = 10 m/s at 30 degrees belo horizontal
