Question
Around 1837, the director of the Royal Society of London, Michel Faraday, conducted research on the subject of electric field. With respect to electric field and electric flow, consider the following statements:
I. The electric flux density in the vacuum is equal to the Electric Field divided by the electric permittivity of the vacuum
II. In the International System, the electric flux is measured in (Coulomb).
III. In the International System, the electric flux density is measured in (Coulomb per square meter).
Only what is affirmed in
A.I
B.I and II.
C.II and III.
D.II.
E.III.
Explanation / Answer
Faraday's experiments concluded that the charge on the outer sphere is equal to that charge kept on the inner sphere irrespective of the type of dielectric placed in between the spheres.
So, he concluded that charge underwent some displacement between spheres and this charge is called displacement flux or electric flux.
Since, flux is equal to charge and unit of charge is coulomb, the electric flux is measured in coulomb.only point (II.) is affirmed by this experiment.
hence, option (D) is correct.
