Solomon is a principal engineer at an environmental engineering consulting firm. His main role is to advise clients on what type of action to take when they are faced with risks and liabilities while conducting certain projects. In one case, Solomon had a client that wanted to expand their campus until it was within approximately 50 meters of a marshland. After construction of this extension, however, the client must ensure that a proper waste management plan is in place so that contamination will have minimal effect on the surrounding habitat. The client came up with a solution that satisfied, but did not go beyond the bare minimum of state regulations. In other words, although Solomon’s client prioritized a cost-effective plan, the environment would be subject to a certain percentage of contamination that would, within five to ten years, stifle the marshland’s flourishing. Should Solomon push for a more fiscally demanding, yet sustainable strategy--at the risk of his client backing out of the partnership altogether?

ETHICAL ISSUE OF THE CASE:

As the firm as approached to the soloman for consulting .It is clear firm wants to meet the regulation creteria of state law But no company in the world will do more than that unless it gets either social benefit or capital benefit .

Now as per the case firm is ready to install waste management plant but it is not enough .

Now as per the law company is meeting the set limit but it will distruct the envoirnment slowly so ethically soloman is in situation to consult his client and show him the broader picture that your plant may result in distruction of habitat in nearby marshland .

From the point of view of company it is clear it wants to expand and even want to help envoirnment will not do more than state law .

So either state law needs to changed to bring more tighter law which is not easy job second as a firm soloman must give his clients project green signal .

In persons life and his decision making his religion ,envoirnment in which he lives in plays an important role .Soloman by job is envoirnmental engineer but by religion he his having islamic values .

So in this case when he will be consulting firm this part of soloman will play crucial role.

Soloman should firsly see the type of company and nature of waste it is generating.

After this he must see state of art technology avialable to counter that waste .

No firm wants to go in loss so waste itself can help earn money so soloman must find ways in a fashion that by product of waste can be utilised to fund the money for treatment plant for the company .

For example the fly ash generated from thermal power plant is waste but it is very important material for cement industry so emmiting fly ash in enoirnment which causes lungs problem it can be used to earn money form cement plant.

The most important thing is Giving company a picture of model as envoirnment friendly company . In cost effective way soloman must give his client the picture that by this branding he may have to invest more now but pay back peroid will be quick and his made product will gain trust from people that it is helping envoirnment rather distructing it.

So by proper study and smart technological and marketting methods soloman can help both his client and envoirnment.
