Current 1 Switch Lamp Your essay should address the following: A circuit diagram/model representing the circuit in the schematic. Description of its operation (what happens when the switch is closed/circuit is closed) Definition of current in relation to charge and to voltage and current (you may copy our class/notes/textbook definitions) Movement of charge, the direction of such motion, the relation of such motion to definition of work and energy (including where the energy for motion comes from) The answer to the following question: If your circuit was closed and left connected until the battery could not light the bulb anymore (assume the bulb is fine), would you say the battery ran out of energy or power or both or neither? Or what? Included in the above (or separately), explain how energy is transformed from one form to another (keywords needed: chemical, electrical, kinetic, heat/light)

Explanation / Answer

In the circuit given above having a battery, lamp, switch. This schematic diagram is one lamp controlled by one switch. The source is a battery. The lamp, battery is controlled by switch connected in series with it.

When switch is open, there is no path for flow of electrons from negative side to positive side of battery. So, no flow of charge through it. Lamp will not glow.

When switch is closed, there is a path provided through switch. So the electrons flows from negative side to positive side of a battery. Lamp will glow.

The rate of flow of charge electrons in a circuit is nothing but current. The conventional current is opposite to the electron flow.

Current = dQ/dt.

The amount of workdone by the charge is nothing but voltage.

Voltage = dW/dt.

Energy is refers to the amount of movement of charge passing through lamp.

When battery is connected to lamp until its ran out its energy it will not supply any energy to lamp. Its required to recharge again.

When battery is charged fully its chemical energy is converted into electrical energy. The chemical energy converted to electrical energy and then the electrons gets kinetic energy. The electronics gets kinetic energy it will moves with high velocity. The energy discharged by electrons in lamp produce some energy into light energy and remaining through heat energy.
