Question

WHAT ARE THE KEY CONCEPTS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE IT NETWORK ENGINEERING?

PLEASE EXPLAIN THE GENERAL CONCEPTS YOU NEED TO KEEP IN MIND AND BEGIN WITH

PLEASE GIVE SOME GOOD REFERENCES AND BOOKS TO LOOK INTO FOR THE EXAMS FOR COMPTIA SECURITY + EXAM

THE CompTIA CySA+ (CompTIA IT Certifications) CONSISTS OF

- IT FUNDEMENTALS EXAM

- A+ EXAM

- Network+ EXAM

- Security+ EXAM

, etc.

PLEASE GIVE THE BOOKS OR REFERENCES OR LINKS I COULD USE FOR THE GOOD REFERENCES FOR PREPARING AND STUDYING EXAMS

IT SEEMS THERE ARE ONLINE PROGRAMS AND BOOKS I COULD USE

PLEASE GIVE AND SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE BEST REFERENCES FOR THE BEIGNNER WHO HAS LITTLE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE IT CONCEPTS AND RECOMMEND THE ONLINE PROGRAMS WHAT YOU WOULD THINK IT IS GOOD TO USE:

BOOKS (COOK BOOKS, EASILY UNDERSTANDABLE CONCEPTS, ETC)

ONLINE PROGRAMS OR CLASSES

I WANT SOME RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE REFERENCES THAT CONSISTS OF CONCEPTS EXPLAINED IN EASY STEPS AND PRACTICE PROBLEMS AND HELP PASSING THE EXAMs

PLEASE ANSWER THE QUESTION IF YOU KNOW YOU HAVE PRIOR KNOWLEDGE ON IT ENGINEERING OR SOMEWHAT CLOSE

Explanation / Answer

First of all you need to know about the basic terminology of network engineering.Such basic terms are defined as follows:

A network can be defined as a group of computers and other devices connected in some ways so as to be able to exchange data.

Each of the devices on the network can be thought of as a node; each node has a unique address.

Addresses are unique quantities that are easy for computers to work with, but not for humans to rememeber. Example:123.254.125.22

Some networks also provide names that humans can more easily remember.Ex: www.network.com

2.Adressing

Internet address

Consists of four bytes seperated by periods.Example:136.211.25.336

InterNIC Register: Organisation incharge of the allocation of the address .

Domain Name System(DNS)

Mnemonic textual addresses are provided to facilitate the manipulation of internet address.

DNS servers are responsible for translating mnemonic textual address into hard numeric internet addresses.

Ports

An IP port identifies a specific application running on an internet host machine.

A port is identified by a number,Port number. For example :application HTTP, its port no. is 80.

Data transmission

In modern networks, data is transferred using packet switching.

Messages are broken down into small packets, and sent from one computer to the other.

At the destination, data are extraced from one or more packets and used to reconstruct the original message.

Types of networks

WAN'S: Wide area network

Cover cities, countries and continents. Example: Asynchronous transfer mode(atm)

LAN'S: local area network

Cover buildings or a set of closely related buildings.Example: Ethernet.

Network interconnections

Interconnections is acheived by following devices:

Bridge:- A computer or device that links to similar LAN's based on same protocol.

Router:- A communication computer that links two different types of network using different protocol.

B-Router:- A device having the functions of bridge and router.

Gateaway:- A network device that connects two different systems, using direct and systematic translation of protocol.

Protocols:

Protocols are consensus based documents that describes guidelines in order to ensure quality and interoperability.

In LAN's ,ethernet over twisted pair is the accepted protocol for wired networking. The TCP/IP protocol stack is a standard component of almost all modern networks.

Here we are done with basic concepts of network engineering.
