I need help with problem #2. Chapter 7 is about the Energy of a System and Chapter 8 is the Conservation of Energy. Thank you.

2. now since conservation of energy

Ei = Ef

1/2 m vi^2 + m g h = 1/2 m vf^2

this is independent of direction thrown so vf is the same in either case
