Say that I have two objects of the same mass and volume. I place one into freshwater (density =1.0 g/cm3) and another in glycerin (density = 1.26 g/cm3). In both cases, the objects are floating. Would the buoyant force from both of these fluids acting on the object be the same? If a solid and a hollow sphere of same mass and radius are released from a same height of a smooth inclined plane, which will reach down first? Pendulum clocks are made to run at the correct rate by adjusting the pendulum's length. Suppose you move from one city to another where the acceleration due to gravity is slightly greater, taking your pendulum clock with you, will you have to lengthen or shorten the pendulum to keep the correct time, other factors remaining constant?

Explanation / Answer

Q1. buyoant force is proportional to volume of the object and density of the liquid.

so no the buyoant force is not the same as density is not the same

b)both will reach at same time as gravitational force is same on both of them

c)time period=sqrt(length/g)

so as g gets higher, time period becomes samller..so we need to make the length HIGHER to get same time.
