Question

NAME Gshah DATE -PERIOD- MEASURING REFRACTION INDEX SNELL'S LAW: , sin e, w n, sin , h w Refraction Index Objective: The Mieasaring the angle of incidence and angle of retraction allows you lo calculate the index of refraction for a given manarial Materials: Acrylic or glass block (rectangular prism). Laser ray box with one beam Procedure: is to see how light bends, or refracts, as it passes 1. Place the biock on your paper with the upper left cormer of the block lined up with the lines drawn on the paper. Carctily complete the rectanglc around the block. The sides mast be paraliel to get good resalts 2 Place the ray box at an angle to the block's edgc at point A as directed by your instructor. Incident angle should be large. F. Mark two points along the incident ray so that you can draw the ray on your paper lanter 4. Repeat step s. Using a protractor construct a line normal (perpendicular') to the box at poist B 3 at the point where the refracted ray leaves the block. Label it point B a line showing the path the ray took through the block, from point A to point B a protractor, mcasure the angle of incidence and angle of refraction as both point A and point B where the light moves from o another medium. Note that both angles are measured with respect to a line perpendicular (normal) to the surface the two media. Label and record the angles on the diagram (four angles).

Explanation / Answer

9. The ray is bending towards the normal. it is happening because light ray goes from less dense medium to more dense medium. The light travel slower in more dense medium than less dense medium.

10. The light ray is away from the normal. Because it again coming to the less dense medium and travelling faster .

8.The question is hard to read please provide tge clear image.
