Question

Two people engage in tug a war. Person 1 is winning. As the rope travels steadily in his direction. What person is pulling the rope with a larger force?
A. Person 1 B. Person 2 C. It's a tie D. It is impossible to know for certain without more information
Two objects oscillate on identical springs. Object one oscillates with twice the frequency of object 2. From this you can conclude: A. Object 1 has 2 times the mass as object 2 B. Object 1 has 1/2 the mass as object 2 C. Object 1 has 1/4 the mass as object 2 D. Object 1 has 4 times the mass as object 2 E. Both are the same mass
A traveling wave is described by the function y= 5cos(8(pi)(x)- 4(pi)(t)) the frequency of the wave is: A. 8pi B. 4pi C. 2 wrong D. Pi E. None

Explanation / Answer

c. its a tie. since accelration is zero and tension in rope is same so both are exerting the same force

Frquency of spring is inversely proportional to suqare root of mass.Since Spring is same mass is same.

So object 1 has mass 1/4 of that of object 2. C is answer

The standard equation for a plane wave travelling in the +x direction can be written as:
y = Asin(kx - t + )

So w= 4pi in given equation.

No frequency , f = w/2pi which given f= 2 so C
