During our interview with a mentally special children we observed something unique about these children. These children indeed requires special attention ,care and proper help to be able to live their daily lives comfortably.
Discussing about their primary needs the most important need of a special mentally challenged child is time.He or she requires someone to hear his words .Proper attention and care is required to assess what they want to convey exactly
these type of children form a special bond with people around them and open up with them only.So regular attention is basic primary need required for this type of children.
Observing about their behaviour these type of children show signs of discomfort, stress when ther interact with new person or go in outside world. They also feel unrelaxed while moving alone outside. They have problem in conveying their message to the person they are communicating with. These children feel discomfort when any kind of change occurs in their life like place changed, any friend leaves town or death of near one and react more extremely at these events.
Medically they are to be taken care of .They should be regular visited for regular checkups .As these special children form pattern behaviours clinicians should judge their patterns and should go into what they are feeling now a days and if there is lot of diacomfort they can be put on medications.Care is most important in this type of cases.
Teacher for these special children needs to be friend first then he has to be teacher.Caring for them, seeing what they need at any time ,what they want to convey, when they need medical help ,when they are in good mental state and their medications can be reduced consulting with doctors, reading their patterns are must for teachers.
As here teacher is not only teaching them to adapt in social world he is shaping lives of childrem with special needs. He needs to be responsible and very honest about his commitment towards these children.
Thank you
