For this module we have considered the morality of abortion. For this post we discuss the morality of so-called convenience abortions; these are abortions had for reasons other than rape, incest, and/or the physical health of the mother is significantly threatened.  Give at least one argument you consider to best oppose your personal view on convenience abortion. First. clearly give your personal view, but then spend the bulk of your post considering the 'opposing' side. Again, be sure you are considering an argument opposing your personal view.  Remember not just to announce your opinions but also to give the evidence and/or reasons for them.

Explanation / Answer

In United States, survey by the Alam Guttmacher instititute as well as report from seven state health institutes in United States studied and analysed the reasons for the abortions. There are 0.3% rape cases, 0.3% incest cases,0.03% risk to mother's life ,5% fetal health issues, 0.1% cases of risk to mother's health. In United States about 98.3% for abortions are for elective reasons either socio economical or birth control in which 30% abortion cases mainly for economical reasons and about 0.1% each in cases of sex selection and selective reduction in multifetal preganancies. There are various countries in which abortion is limited to only hard cases eg. rape, incest, life threat to the health of mother or fetal health.

Personal views: From the view point of humanity, abortion is not ethical. A person has a right to do whatever they want to do with their body but the fetus or unborn baby is a different individual which resides in her mother's womb. We have no right to harm them. Since abortion kills an innocent human being, it is not ethical to use the justification of rare cases eg to save life of a mother as there are millions of convenience abortions which are taking place in United States. There are about 98% conveniences abortion cases in United States.

Opposing view:

Since the fetus is the part of mother's body so she has the right to do so she has the right to decide what she wants. If the mother is too young and immature to support the baby then she can opt for abortion

If the parents are not prepared for the baby and they are not financially sound then how can they give a good life to the unborn baby. So this is a valid reason for the abortion.

In some Asian countries if the women is unmarried and she gives birth to a baby then all her life she has to bear the sufferings or mental harrasment from her relatives and others so in that case it is better to have abortion.

If the women is carrier oriented and have ambitions in her life, after giving the baby she will be having additonal responsiblity of supporting the baby. In that case she has to limit her ambitions which she will regret in her life. In that case it is valid to have abortion

If the expectant women is suffering from some medical condition in which there is no threat to her life eg. If the women is recieving some radiation therapy then the pregancy could cause further complications in the baby like that child could be handicapped which cannot be avoided so in that case that is better to opt for abortion.
